Jammu-Srinagar National Highway Closed Due To Landslide

A major landslide was witnessed near Dewal bridge in Udhampur on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. Due to the landslide, a portion of highway was blocked affecting vehicular movement near Samroli village. Further details are awaited. Due to continued harsh weather across parts of northern India, earlier in the month Jammu-Srinagar National Highway witnessed a massive landslide, because of which the highway was closed, leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded in Udhampur and also affecting the Amarnath Yatra. The 250-km Jammu-Srinagar National Highway is the only all-weather road linking Kashmir with the rest of the country while the Mughal road connects Bufliaz town in Jammu's Poonch district to the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir.
