Journalist Injured During Gunfight Between Militants, Cops In Manipur
A journalist in Manipur sustained bullet injuries on his leg during attacks in Thamnapokpi, Imphal East. Suspected tribal militants launched a series of assaults from the hilltops of Kangpokpi district, targeting peripheral areas, including Sanasabi and Thamnapokpi, since yesterday. The journalist, Kavi, works with Impact TV in Manipur. At least two persons, including a policeman, were injured in a gunfight with armed men in Manipur's Imphal East district on Friday, police said. Armed men from the hills launched gun-and-bomb attacks in Sanasabi and Thamnapokpi villages in the district, to which security forces retaliated, leading to a fierce encounter, a senior police officer said.
