The Election Commission of India censured the BJP's Tamluk nominee Abhijit Ganguly and barred him from campaigning for 24 hours from 5pm Tuesday evening. The former judge has been warned to be careful with his public utterances while the Model Code of Conduct is in place. The Trinamool Congress had lodged a complaint with the central poll panel following a speech by Ganguly on May 15 during a rally in Haldia under the Tamluk Lok Sabha seat in which he made some objectionable comments against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
