Kannauj Shocker: Apathy In The Time Of Social Media?
A very disconcerting video emerged today from Kannauj in UP of a 13-year-old girl writhing in pain, trying desperately to reach out for help with her blood-soaked arms. But what do you see around her - not a single hand held out to help her but a group of emotionless men stand around her, filming her on phones. In the 25-second video, voices discuss whether the police have been alerted but there is no attempt to help the girl. What explains this apathy, this numbing of our senses and emotions?
