Like every election in Karnataka, all parties are focused on the Lingayat and Vokkaliga communities for the upcoming assembly polls. Lingayats constitute around 30 percent of the BJP's total candidates. The community's share in the state's total population is 17 percent. The JD(S) has also given the highest number of 22 percent tickets to the Vokkaliga community, keeping in mind its core vote.
