The big suspense ahead of the Karnataka assembly election in 2023 has been revealed. Mining baron Gali Janardhana Reddy, and a former BJP minister has floated a new party. The party will be called the Karnataka Rajya Pragathi Paksha (KRPP). While he will be contesting from Gangavathi constituency, in Koppal district of Karnataka, his wife Aruna Lakshmi will also be contesting in the upcoming polls; however, the constituency from where she will contest from is yet to be decided. His announcement has created unrest amongst BJP leaders, especially BJP MLA Paranna Munavalli, and has caused a worry in the BJP if the former minister will shift the majority of BJP votes to his party. Mr Reddy is an accused in a multi-core illegal mining case, in which he was jailed in 2011. He was released on bail in 2015 and banned from entering Ballari, his district; Anantpur and Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh.
