Cricket bats made from Kashmir willow are known worldwide. They have been popularised by many international cricketers who prefer them over bats made from other types of wood. People associated with the bat industry in Kashmir, however, say that despite its global reach, the industry has not been able to realise its full potential. Ahead of this year's Union Budget, bat manufacturers in the Kashmir valley are expecting measures that they hope, will create opportunities for the industry to reach out to wider international markets.
