Sania Zehra, a young girl from J&K’s Balhama, has made her mark as Kashmir’s first beekeeping woman, reviving her family’s tradition. Setting up a beekeeping unit in Pampore, Pulwama, she blended modern techniques with traditional methods learned from her grandfather. Breaking stereotypes, Sania has gained support from her family and is empowering herself and others. Her beekeeping venture is not only about honey production but also aims to support local farmers and combat the global decline in bee populations. Sania’s efforts have inspired many young people, particularly women, to follow their path and become independent.
