The police have reduced the security cover of a key witness in the Nitish Katara murder case, even though he lives under constant threat. In 2003, while hearing a petition in the case, the Delhi High Court had issued "witness protection guidelines". In its wake, Umesh Kumar (not his real name) who is one of the two key witnesses in the case, was given four bodyguards when he testified against the main accused Vikas Yadav.
