Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with US President Donald Trump at the White House today, with the two leaders talking about their close bond.
"He is a great friend of mine. For a long time we've had a wonderful relationship," Trump said as he greeted PM Modi in the Oval Office for a visit that he promised would bring "wonderful" trade deals.
Later, at a joint briefing, the two leaders addressed several key topics, including tariffs, the extradition of the 26/11 Mumbai attack accused Tahawwur Rana, illegal immigration and the Russia-Ukraine war.
Just before the talks, Trump announced sweeping "reciprocal tariffs" that would impact both allies and adversaries of the nation. While announcing the decision, he said US allies were often "worse than our enemies" on trade issues.
