The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) held a meeting with women artists to discuss prevalent issues, including sexual harassment, within the film industry. 153 artists, both men and women, signed a letter sent on behalf of the Film Industry for Rights & Equality (FIRE) to the Chief Minister (CM) of Karnataka Siddaramaiah. The artists urged the CM to appoint a committee, on the lines of the Hema Committee, led by a retired judge to address the sexual harassment issue in the Kannada film industry. This is in light of the Hema Committee report that has highlighted the presence of sexual harassment in the Kerala film industry. This comes following a letter from the Karnataka State Women's Commission Chairperson Nagalakshmi Chowdhary, requesting the Film Chamber to organise a meeting to address these concerns.
