Six people have been sentenced to death and 2 have got life term in the Khairlanji murders case. In one of the worst reported attacks on Dalits, a woman and her three children were lynched by an upper caste mob in Khairlanji, Maharashtra, on September 29, 2006. The murders had led to violent reactions across the state. Last Monday, a special fast track court in Bhandara convicted these 8 men for the multiple murders, but added this was not a caste-related murder.
