Kolkata Police Unleash Tear Gas On Protestors, Protest Turn Violent
In the wake of the Nabanna Abhijan Rally called for August 27 to protest the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder case, the West Bengal police have tightened security around the West Bengal state secretariat "Nabanna." However, the protest went violent as the protestors broke barricades and police security arrangements. Police at the end unleashed water cannons and tear gas to disperse the protesting crowd. The police detained many protestors, including women.
