The first major crisis of Narendra Modi government has rocked the BJP hard. With allegations and documentary proof of collusion between Rajasthan's BJP Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Lalit Modi swirling all over the media, the party and the government are finding it hard to defend themselves. To make matters worse, the Prime Minister's silence on the issue has not helped matters. Opposition parties who were looking at an opportune moment to take on BJP are convinced that at last they have found the 'issue' to corner the government. The issue is of a conflict of interest as well as breach of propriety of a Constitutional position that the two ministers have. With no signs of either Sushma Swaraj or Vasundhara Raje resigning, the Monsoon Session in Parliament may be a washout. So where is the crisis heading? What does it augur for the BJP? What impact will it have on the upcoming polls in Bihar and political future of the government?
