Land Bill needs careful consideration: Arun Maira
The cabinet has referred the land acquisition bill to a group of ministers to help out iron out differences. Arun Maira, Member, Planning Commission feels there is a need to re-examine the broad ideological issues linked to the land bill like the definition of land for "public purposes". Also the cost attached to acquiring land from people for whom land is the only asset and the only source of livelihood needs to be re-examined, he adds.
