"Adults must put away our misconceptions and understand the need of the young. Currently, about one in five boys and less than one in ten girls report premarital sex before they are 20. Over one quarter of young women marry before they are 18 and many more marry in adolescence. So, irrespective of married and unmarried, contraceptions among them tends to be very limited and knowledge about contraception tends to be limited," says Shireen Jejeebhoy, Board member, Plan India at the Swasth India telethon.
