The poor and the lower-middle classes are up in arms after the price of gas cylinders has been hiked by Rs 25. In Chennai, the price has increased by Rs 50 over a period of three months. Many women say the hike amid the pandemic-inflicted job losses has come as a double whammy. Some say this would force them to reduce cooking and children could be deprived of adequate nutrition.
