Lutyens Reimagined: Architects Unhappy

When Sir Edwin Lutyens imagined New Delhi, he built a brand new city linking the old with the new. The new city too is now over a 100 years old and the Government now feels that the Central District, the Parliament, Central Vista needs an upgrade. Proposals are being invited but a body of architects now is fuming as they feel the manner in which the government wants to go about this change is, in their words, 'hasty and unplanned'. What really is on the Government's mind, why are the architects not happy? How does the Government propose to carry out these massive changes and upgrades envisioned by its own deadline of 2022?
