A social media startup has been launched in Chennai. Founded by Suresh Kumar, a techie from rural Tamil Nadu, Pepul targets not just Indian users but the global community as well. It also attempts to check fake profiles and hate messages by a simple Aadhaar based verification for the blue tick badge. The start-up has raised Rs 10 crore in seed funding by prominent investors like PayTM founder Vijay Shekhar, Freshworks' Girish Mathrabootham and Silicon Valley based Hourglass Venture.
