Maha intelligence gathering in shambles
The recent blasts in Ahmedabad and Bangalore have focused attention on massive intelligence failures across the country. And there's one more reason for concern, Maharashtra, a state which has an impressive record in cracking terror cases, has an intelligence gathering set up that is in shambles.
In 2006 after the Mumbai serial train blasts came a major announcement. The Home Ministry proposed to recruit 900 policemen, fifty per cent of the State Intelligence Department especially for it.
