Following a stampede at the Sangam area of the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj early Wednesday, which left at least 30 people dead and 60 others injured as crores of pilgrims rushed for a holy dip on Mauni Amavasya, the local administration in Varanasi has intensified security measures to ensure the safety of visitors to the holy city. The number of holding areas has been expanded, and special arrangements have been made for devotees visiting Varanasi, with additional barricading in place to ensure safety and prevent any untoward incidents.
