Maharashtra govt repeals land act
It's a move that could trigger a huge real estate boom in Mumbai. Thousands of acres of urban land have been freed in Maharashtra with the state assembly repealing the 41-year-old Urban Land Ceiling Act. The law put a ceiling on how much land can be privately owned. Mumbai has been struggling to cope with a housing crisis and spiralling property prices. Though the prices themselves may not go down just yet.
