Maharashtra slammed for regional divide

A fact-finding team of the Planning Commission has blamed the regional divide in Maharahstra for the growing rate of farmers' suicides in Vidarbha. Irrigation funds meant for the parched region of Vidarbha have been diverted to the prosperous western Maharashtra, which is home to the state's powerful sugar barons.
