Prime Minister Narendra Modi cancelled his programme in Punjab after a massive security breach left him stuck on a highway for 20 minutes because of protesting farmers. Mumbai on Wednesday saw a 39 per cent jump in daily cases as it recorded 15,166 new cases of coronavirus in 24 hours - the highest since the outbreak of pandemic in 2020 - with three related deaths. Fresh COVID-19 cases in Karnataka nearly doubled in 24 hours to 4,246 and reported two deaths on Wednesday, taking the count to 30,17,572 and the fatalities to 38,357.
