Mallikarjun Kharge, Not Rahul Gandhi, to Lead Congress in Lok Sabha
Congress president Sonia Gandhi today sprang a surprise by nominating former union minister Mallikarjun Kharge as the party's leader in the Lok Sabha. It, however, remains to be seen whether his status will be upgraded as Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. For any party to claim the position of Leader of the Opposition, it, Lok Sabha Secretariat sources say, needs to have at least a tenth of the total strength of the House. (Read more)
