Malnutrition returns to haunt rural Thane
Mumbai may the glitzy financial capital of India, but the stark reality around it is very different. As many as 274 children have died in three months in Thane's tribal belt, just a 100 km from Mumbai. The deaths are a grim reminder of spectre of malnutrition that has haunted the region. However, the government claims the deaths are due to disease.
