Mamata Banerjee: Autocrat or misunderstood?
She came to power in a historic win last year, wiping out the Left in West Bengal after more than 34 years, but today with one controversy after another dogging Mamata Banerjee, has the Chief Minister turned into an autocrat? From blaming infant deaths on the Left to getting the Railway Minister sacked to transferring a cop who cracked a rape case that Ms Banerjee had said was concocted, she has made headlines for all the wrong reasons. The latest is a proposal by a govt-appointed panel, which says there is too much Marx in school textbooks and it's time for some balance.
