Mamata Banerjee's Idol Order Revoked: Immersion Politics Drowning Harmony?
The Calcutta High Court today revoked the Mamata Banerjee government's order banning the immersion of Durga idols after 10 pm on September 30 and on October 1, which happens to be Muharram. The Trinamool government said they were doing this to prevent any potential violence between communities. But the High Court told the government - are you not creating a line of division between the two communities by your action? An angry Mamata Banerjee reacted, saying, "someone can slit my throat but no one can tell me what to do".
