Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has threatened to file a defamation case after the Calcutta High Court pulled up the Election Commission for inaction and restrained the BJP from running certain advertisements. The Calcutta High Court was addressing complaints regarding "derogatory" advertisements published by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) against the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal, and restrained the opposition party from carrying out materials that are in violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
