In Manipur, considering last year's ethnic violence, the Election Commission is holding polls for the tribal-reserved Outer Manipur seat in two phases. Parts of Outer Manipur, particularly those dominated by people from the Kuki tribe, voted in Phase 1 on April 19, while remote areas bordering Myanmar, and comprising people largely from the Naga tribe, would be voting in Phase 2. However, with cases of poll violence and vandalism in phase 1, that resulted in repolling in 11 polling stations, the EC has taken special measures this time. Manipur's Chief Electoral Officer PK Jha spoke exclusively to NDTV, giving more details.
