The N Biren Singh government has won the crucial trust vote in Manipur, with 32 votes in its favour. The party, which was the second largest with 21 seats out of the 60 in the state assembly, needed another 10 to prove majority. The Congress, which won 28 seats, has been unable to get the support of three legislators it needs to prove majority. The BJP had received support from local parties like the Naga People's Front and the National People's Party, which have four lawmakers each. Ram Vilas Paswan's Lok Janashakti Party, an NDA ally, had one seat. The two other supporters was a defector from the Congress and the lone legislator from Trinamool Congress.
