On September 1, two women were killed and several others injured in an attack reportedly carried out by Kuki militants against Koutruk villagers, according to the Manipur government. The militants fired indiscriminately and used drones to bombard two Meitei villages. In addition, they set fire to five houses belonging to Meitei families in Koutruk Ching Leikai, along with eight two-wheelers and one car.
In response, adequate state forces, including the 7th Manipur Rifles, Manipur Police Commandos, and other police personnel, were deployed to prevent further violence. The police swiftly responded to the arson attack in Koutruk. Reports indicate that the heavily armed Kuki militants launched the drone attack on the two Meitei villages simultaneously around 2 p.m. that day.
