Valte, who previously served as a cabinet minister in the Biren Singh government, was brutally attacked in Imphal during the May 2023 ethnic violence. Now back in Manipur, he discussed potential pathways to lasting peace in the state, which has been under President's Rule since February, despite a decrease in violence.
