Manmohan Singh, a stalwart of Indian politics and economics, has left an indelible mark on our nation's history. In the past, Dr Singh famously said he was not only an accidental PM, but also an accidental Finance Minister. Today he is being remembered as India's great liberaliser and a monumental Prime Minister. His contributions to politics as well as his humility and integrity earned him respect across party lines.
Despite facing criticism during his tenure, he remained committed to his vision for India. In his final press conference as Prime Minister, he said, "History will be kinder to me than the contemporary media or for that matter, the Opposition parties in Parliament". These words have proven prophetic, as history is indeed being kinder to him, acknowledging his monumental contributions to India's progress. It's in the strength of the tributes that a man's legacy is judged.
