Durg, a small town near the centre of India, is at the heart of the COVID-19 crisis. The district is the worst affected in Chhattisgarh, a state that is seeing a massive surge in cases in the second wave of the pandemic. At a government hospital, bodies have been piling up at the mortuary, with an overburdened administration unable to cope. The government has announced a week-long lockdown in the district starting from April 6.
