The purple line of the Kolkata Metro network which connects the eastern fringes of the city to the city centre Esplanade has entered its final stage on construction with the underground section of the line now taking shape. The line will connect iconic structures like the Victoria Memorial and special care is being taken to ensure that the construction does not affect the centuries old structures. The line also passes through the green lungs of the city, the Maidan area and special care is being taken to transplant all the trees that need to be relocated for the project, with not a single one of nearly 950 trees being cut. This effort is also accompanied by compensatory tree-planting for the project. NDTV brings you a sneak peek into the under-construction underground section of this metro line in Kolkata. Once completed, the line will be a boon for commuters from areas like Joka, Behala, Khidderpore in the city.
