'Migrant Workers Need Economic Sustainability,' Says Padma Shri Awardee, Dr Abhay Bang
Padma Shri Award-winning activist and researcher in community health, Dr Abhay Bang joined the #RebuildingLives telethon to lend his support to the initiative. Dr Bang shared that in the district he works in, about 40,000 migrant workers from various parts of India have come back. He further highlighted that the migrant workers are twice displaced as first they left their village and then they left their place of work. Furthermore, Dr Bang said that these displaced people are also twice untouchables, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and therefore, acceptance and economic sustainability is the most important for them.
