For migrants trying to return to their home states during the coronavirus lockdown, it is turning out to be a journey of horrors. They are facing life and death obstacles. Today, the Supreme Court had to step in to make their journey less traumatic. Migrants who have made it to the trains sent videos on WhatsApp of the food they are being served on the train, which they say is unfit for anyone to eat. Desperate, some even ransacked stations on the way, stealing water bottles to quench their thirst on the long routes. Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik alleged on NDTV's Reality Check show that migrants are being forced to pay for their tickets despite the Centre stressing on 85-15 cost-sharing between the Centre and the States.
