Thousands were at the gates of Chennai's Apollo Hospital when J Jayalalithaa breathed her last at 11.30 on Monday night. Today, as her body was placed in the Rajaji Hall, flooded with VIPs from across the country who had come to pay their respects, men and women were seen hitting their heads and beating their chests in an uncontrollable outpour of grief. Some, who couldn't be in Chennai, shaved their heads to mourn the loss of their 'Amma' or mother as she is fondly known to millions of her supporters.
