Mining Secretary on new Mines Bill
Mining Secretary S Vijay Kumar says that in principle he agrees with the draft Mines and Mineral Development and Regulation (MMDR) Bill, 2011, which proposes to make it mandatory for coal miners to share 26 per cent of their profits with project-affected people. He says it will not cause any discomfort to the industry.
