Allegations that Karnataka minister KJ George drove a police officer to suicide have returned to challenge the state's ruling Congress months ahead of elections. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), asked by the Supreme Court to investigate the suicide, has charged Mr George, 66, and two police officers with harassing MK Ganapathy, who had named them in an interview before he was found hanging. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, accused by the opposition BJP of shielding Mr George, said after meeting with his top ministers: "We don't see any need for George's resignation. It's an old FIR and CBI's case is a continuation."
