Mittal assures Sarkozy on job cuts
A company headed by an Indian taking over the European steel industry - that's how the French saw the 2006 Arcelor Mittal merger. They say it hurt their pride and they won't forget it in a hurry, especially when the company has decided to shut down a steel plant in eastern France. ''The sentiment is that we are not in the middle ages and we are not slaves who can be bought and then dumped on the side,'' said Thomas Bauder, Journalist, Canal Plus.
