Noted economist Amartya Sen said mob rule, regardless of its economic impact, was a bad omen for a democracy. "Mobocracy, lynching, making people live in fear, whether you're a minority or majority, IS TERRIBLE whether or not it affects the economy. The central question is about liberty and democracy, and so, is there some argument to be made for terrorising people on grounds that it is good the economy? I'm afraid it is not," he said on The NDTV Dialogues this week.
