Ashok Gulati, former chairman of the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP), and, at present, chair professor for agriculture at the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations(ICRIER), tells NDTV that the overall monsoon situation has been improving from last few days but concerns remain especially in the western and central parts of the country. The new government has been able to contain the price situation, especially of onions, but the real litmus test will happen towards the end of September and beginning of October when rabi stocks will exhaust and festive demand will kick in. He also says that there is a possibility of some storm at that time.
