More tear gas, water cannons, stone pelting at India Gate
The police have used tear gas and water cannons again today at India Gate to keep angry protesters from breaking down barricades and security cordons and moving towards Rashtrapati Bhawan. Protesters pelted stones at the police in reply to the tear gas being used.There are prohibitory orders in the area, but protesters have now been allowed in on foot till India Gate. Five young protestors, who met Sonia Gandhi at her 10 Janpath residence today, have appealed for peaceful demonstrations. The government has assured them of quick action in the case of the medical student who was brutally gang-raped a week ago.
