MP Shashi Tharoor Amid Reports Of Rift With Congress: 'No Comments At All'

Amid reports of tensions between Congress MP Shashi Tharoor and party due to his recent praise for the Kerala Left Democratic Front (LDF) government's industrial policy and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tharoor on Sunday refused to comment further on the subject. When approached by reporters at New Delhi airport on Sunday, the Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram simply said, 'No comments at all'. Tharoor on Saturday posted on his X account the quote 'Where ignorance is bliss, ’tis folly to be wise' by poet Thomas Gray. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor's recent article in an English daily, praising the entrepreneurial growth in Kerala under the LDF government, kicked off a political storm in the state with his party questioning the basis of it. Tharoor, a member of Congress Working Committee (CWC), clarified that his article in an English daily contained no political references. He stated that his sole focus was on Kerala's entrepreneurial and innovation-driven growth and that he intended to highlight the state's progress in that specific area. Also, he praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi following his meeting with US President Donald Trump, stating that he spoke with India's interests in mind adding Modi’s US visit had yielded some positive outcomes for the Indian people. He also noted that Modi being the fourth world leader to meet Trump after he took office underscored India's growing importance on global stage.
