"I think this is an important event. I do hope that we get unanimous passage of the bill in the Lok Sabha becasue I think this is the reservation bill that was long long needed, long long overdue. And in the times we live in - when we talk about women's empowerment, gender inclusivity and various other aspects of gender equity - women's reservation bill is long needed and much needed. I welcome it," entrepreneur Kiran Mazumdar Shaw told NDTV soon after the union cabinet reportedly cleared the Women's Reservation Bill on Monday evening. The bill, drawn up in 2008, has been on freeze since it was passed by the Rajya Sabha in 2010. It was never presented in the lower house.
