The ten-day Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations that started today in Mumbai was a muted affair. Amid fears of a third wave of the pandemic, Mumbai's civic body BMC has issued fresh curbs for the festival. Processions and visits to Ganpati pandals have been barred, organisers have been urged to try and ensure live coverage of the Aarti through social media platforms and only those fully vaccinated will be allowed to volunteer in the pandals, officials said.
