Mumbai Metro | Major Milestone For Mumbai Metro: First Underground Tunnel Completed On Line 7A
The under-construction line 7A which is key link to connect existing Metro lines and boost Metro connectivity in the city has crossed a major milestone with the with the tunnel boring machine 'Disha' successfully completing tunnelling in Bamanwada, Vile Parle (East). Line 7A is a proposed extension of the existing Line 7, aimed at connecting the western suburbs to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA T2) and it will provide an interchange with the Aqua Line at the CSMIA T2, allowing passengers from the western suburbs to travel to South Mumbai using the Metro. Work on this line began in March 2020, with tunnelling work starting in September 2023.
