Train services came to a halt, homes and businesses were without electricity and people sweltered in humid heat as a grid failure resulted in massive power outages across Mumbai Monday morning. The power supply was restored in many parts of Mumbai after a blackout of over 2 hours. The unprecedented power cut was reported a little after 10 am, leaving several local trains stranded on tracks. Western Railway said the breakdown was due to a grid failure at Tata Power. Commuters were seen walking on rail tracks. The central and western line train services have now been restored.
